Aloha Susan! Happy to inspire you! Yes, the hens spend hours searching for goodies in the grass, they gobble up moths and worms and other bugs. There is a weed that grows rampant in the grass (no herbicides in these gardens!) that sends up a teeny tiny purple flowers, and the second I open the gate to let the girls out, they scoot over to the grass and gobble up all those little flowers-- it's so sweet, little flower treats. I'd love to see photos of your gardens when you start your spring plantings! xoxo

Thank you Susie for sharing your photos!! They make me smile and feel nice and warm!! I am so happy that your storms have passed and that you all are safe and sound. Your girls (hens) look very happy to be out and about after the storm. Maybe they are finding some fresh yummy goodies in the yard?!! :-)

And lovely to see all of the variety of seeds you are planting...it inspires me to dream of the garden I can put in once our spring weather arrives...

Enjoy!!
xx Susan :-)

Aloha Linda, It's raining again today but no crazy storms, so all is well! I'm happy I took the time to enjoy the gardens last evening while there was a respite in the wet wet weather.

Aloha Aurora, I created this safe refuge for myself, but outside my boundaries, people are using all sorts of toxic products that are unsafe: pesticide use is rampant in Hawaii, petrochemicals, toxic consumer goods, water sources that have been contaminated with agricultural chemicals, all the things that can damage living creatures and make people very ill. My home and gardens are my refuge, my safe place, organic, natural and the way nature intended! As long as I stay within my boundaries (unless the neighbors do something toxic and the wind pulls the drift onto my property, like light the BBQ, spray pesticide, start up a diesel generator, or use a toxic laundry product like dryer sheets-- and it all happens from time to time), I am safe and happy.

Aloha Mokihana, my island sister! I wish I could share the bounty with you. That's the one thing lacking within our Internet community, I cannot actually share things from my gardens with you. But hopefully the photos can bring some joy, and for you, rekindle good memories of your homeland.
