Denise, all good questions. The GMO corn grown in our state, at least on Molokai, is feed corn, not for human consumption. So none of that benefits our food supply anyway. Did you know the USDA Agricultural Research Center for the entire Pacific region is located in Hilo? That's where all the government's GMO research for the Pacific is centered. It's on UH land, which is why I can't write too much about GMO here on my site until I leave the university. I have to remain neutral on the issue with my own public statements.

Jasmine, you're welcome! I'm happy to see Ruth contributing again, she finds really good stuff on the Interwebs!

How do you feel about forbidding the labeling of GM food and ingredients, covering up the results of tests, and firing and/or suing those who speak out against the GM industry? Research has been done that shows the harm of GM food to the environment and those who eat it (which is just about everyone in the US). Since GM corn is registered as a pesticide, would you want to eat it? Would you knowingly eat a pesticide?
Here on Oahu, we have a three day (MAXIMUM) food supply and yet a lot of our land is being used and/or allocated for GM seed and they are expanding this industry with our government's enthusiastic support. We can not eat seed, let alone GM seed. What are the environmental consequences? Should our limited ag land be used this way?
Being legal is not the same as being right/just, but it should be.
