The Real Dirt on Farmer John

If you haven’t seen it, rent this movie!!!
THE REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN follows Farmer John’s astonishing journey from farm boy to counter-culture rebel to the son who almost lost the family farm to a beacon of today’s booming organic farming movement and founder of one of the nation’s largest Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms. The result is a tale that ebbs and flows with the fortunes of the soil and revealingly mirrors the changing American times.

I was lucky and caught it on a local TV channel. This was a great film to watch!

It’s one of those films where you are not quite the same person after having seen it. It touched me very deeply.

Ruth, I have a subscription to Netflix http://www.netflix.com/, a company that rents DVDs by mail. I used to belong to Blockbuster and used their Hilo store, but I get sick in there, so I was stoked to learn about Netflix. The movies come right to our mail box. You pay a set fee for having a certain number of movies in rotation and as soon as you send one back, they replenish it withing 24 hours. It’s super easy! You can build up a queue of movies online so they know what to send you next. We always have three movies in rotation for about $16 I think per month, it works out perfect for us.
I highly recommend Netflix for people with MCS. Only once have I had to put one of the DVDs in a plastic bag b/c it arrived with perfume on it. The perfume was only on the DVD’s paper case so I was ok with the disc itself.

Thanks! Will check that out. There’s a Family Video Store near my place, but not sure they would have this movie there. The trailer for this film is soooo inticing….really want to see it!
Take care, Ruth
